Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday took note of a shocking incident at Dibrugarh University wherein a student, allegedly fed-up of ragging by seniors, jumped off his hostel building on Saturday night.
“It has come to notice that a Dibrugarh University student is hurt in an alleged case of ragging. A close watch was maintained and follow-up action was coordinated with the district admin. Efforts on to nab the accused, the victim being provided medical care,” Sarma tweeted.
“Appeal to students, say NO to Ragging,” he added.
The victim is being treated in a private hospital and his condition is now stable, ANI reported.
Police have arrested one of the five accused and detained three following a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Dibrugarh’s SP told the news agency.
